Max Mouser Block Press

  • WORLD RECORDS will be on the line, as will WV state and US national records
  • 60sec to produce a successful lift. You may push, pull, kick, scream, and dance all you want in that 60sec to produce a good lift. If that 60sec expires and you have not produced a good lift, you are out.
  • We will take openers during warmups. 3 attempts will be allowed to reach a top weight, but if you miss, you’re out.
  • Athlete must wait for down command.
  • To receive down command, knees must be locked; feet stationary, not staggered,  and within shoulder width; hips extended; upright posture; elbows locked; implement must be motionless to demonstrate control. Pressing with a layback technique is fine, however posture must be upright at lockout to receive the down command.
  • Dropping the implement will result in a no lift call. Object must be controlled to the ground. This is not easy with a big rectangular block, but clear effort must be made to control the descent.
  • Sleeves, one belt, and wrist wraps are legal.
  • No tacky (if that wasn’t obvious).
  • Mouser Block available at mouserpower.com/mouser-block/
  • “Chip rule” goes into effect to break all time world record once that weight is reached so 345, 350, 355, etc is allowed by anyone who successfully presses 320.

In case you’re wondering what a WORLD RECORD looks like, here’s current all-time record holder and Team Mouser member Steve Schmidt setting the new world record in one of the biggest strength moments of 2017:

Max Deadlift

  • US NATIONAL RECORDS on the line, as well as WV state records.
  • 60sec to produce a successful lift. You may push, pull, kick, scream, and dance all you want in that 60sec to produce a good lift. If that 60sec expires and you have not produced a good lift, you are out.
  • Must wait for down command. To receive a down command, knees must be locked, feet must be motionless, hips extended, shoulders back, and back straight.
  • Hands must remain in contact with the bar all the way to the floor. Dropping the bar WILL result in a “no lift”. Throwing a hissy fit because of a no-lift call will result in the judge still not caring.
  • We will take openers during warmups. 3 attempts will be allowed to reach a top weight, but if you miss, you’re out.
  • Flexing deadlift bars will be used. Brand TBA if I’m feeling nice. I know someone will ask LOL.
  • Straps and sleeves legal. One belt is allowed.
  • Suits, hooks, and oils are not legal.

Mouser Block Carry, Max Distance

  • Athlete will have 30 sec to pick the Mouser Block from the ground and cross the start line
  • Once the start line is crossed, there will be no time limit, furthest distance wins
  • Athlete may readjust during the carry, however the athlet’s turn will be over whenever the block itself or any part of the athlete other than the feet touch the ground. Athlete may not stop moving forward for more than 3 seconds or the athlete’s turn will be over.
  • One belt (with buckle to the side or back) may be worn, neoprene sleeves and wrist wraps are OK.
  • No rubberized shirts, no gloves, no spray tacky, no tacky towels, no tacky anything, no rubber gauntlets.
  • Hands and chests will be inspected for sticky stuff prior to your turn.
  • No whining about equipment and sticky stuff being banned. Everyone is under the same rules so it’s fair and the strongest person will win. Whining results in a 10ft penalty on distance!
  • Mouser Block available at www.mouserpower.com/mouser-block/

Farmers and Keg Medley

  • 60sec to complete the course
  • If the course is not completed, athlete will be credited with time/distance of what was accomplished
  • Athlete will carry the farmers handles down a 40ft course. Once the entire implement has crossed the finish line, athlete will then hurry over 10ft to load a keg over bar. The keg does NOT need to be carried, it will be placed right in front of the loading area. After the keg load, athletes will hurry back to the farmers handles (which have been ever so kindly increased in weight at this point) and carry them back to the start line. Entire implement must cross the line to finish.
  • 2 second slide rule penalty for sliding across either finish line.
  • One drop allowed on the way up, and one drop allowed on the way back.
  • One belt, wrist wraps, and neoprene sleeves are allowed
  • No sticky stuff of any kind (hands will be inspected), no gloves, no straps, no knee wraps, no problem.

General Rules/Usual Mouser Stuff

  • In the event of a tie in the final standings, 1st place finishes will decide the winner. If there is still a tie, then 2nd place finishes will be the determinant, and so on. If a tie cannot be broken this way, athletes will compete head to head in a 2-out-of-3 Mas Wrestling match to determine the winner.
  • Sportsmanship is expected and required. This is the greatest sport in the world, let’s keep it that way.
  • There will be a pre-event prayer. No one is expected to participate, so please do not feel obligated. All we ask is to be respectful of those that do or do not wish to participate.
  • This is a drug free contest. If you are juiced feel free to come cheer on your buddies but please do not bother to sign up.
  • If you have a question, please ask! I would rather take a minute to clarify something than to see someone have a poor showing due to a misunderstanding.
