Chattering Skull Hold (Front Hold)

  • Weight must be held out in front with both hands and elbows straight (hyperextension NOT required or recommended). The top side of the wrists/forearms must remain in contact with the “contact bar”.
  • The contact bar will be adjusted for the height of each athlete so that the weight is being held with the arms perpendicular to the body. No time limit; longest hold wins.
  • Causes for disqualification include: breaking contact with the contact bar, bending the elbows beyond the starting position, dropping the weight, lateral movement of the weight, failure to maintain the arms at a perpendicular angle to the body, etc.
  • Equipment allowed: wrist wraps, belt, elbow sleeves. No straps.

Cadaver Load and Coffin Drag (Carry and Drag)

  • Athletes must load a series of “cadavers” into the coffin, then drag the whole deal across the line.
  • The cadavers will be sandbags or something similar, and we do plan to get an actual coffin to load them into.
  • Cadavers must be carried ~30ft before being placed into the coffin and beginning the ~30ft drag.
  • 75 sec time limit. Fastest time wins.
  • We are still working on testing and gathering the implements for this one, thus why I’m not getting super specific here.
  • Equipment allowed: knee and elbow sleeves, a belt, wrist wraps. No knee wraps or cleats.

Hearse Deadlift Hold

  • Athletes must grasp the handles of our car deadlift racks, and standup. Time will begin when the athlete is standing with knees and hips extended. No time limit, longest hold wins.
  • Weight will be adjusted as best as possible for each class. If the racks cannot be adjusted to an appropriate difficulty for any certain class, then a trap bar will be used for that class.
  • Equipment allowed: one belt, sleeves, and straps. No super suits.

Tombstone Carry (Husafell)

  • Athletes must carry the implement over the course as fast as possible. Fastest time wins. 60sec time limit.
  • Dropping the implement ends your run; you will be credited with distance.
  • The course will be 25ft and must be navigated up and back TWICE. Athletes must carry the implement to the far end of the course and return to the starting point, then do it again. This is a total of 100ft.
  • The implement may begin on a platform, or on the ground at the athlete’s discretion. Athletes will have 20sec to get a grip and begin the carry. Once the athlete crosses the starting line, the 60sec time limit will begin.
  • Equipment allowed: belt, sleeves, forearm sleeves, and tape for the skin. Wraps on the arms must be approved by the head judge. No knee wraps or grip aids, including tacky, stick um, Gummy Bears, etc.

Jack-O-Lantern Over Bar (Atlas Stones)

  • An increasingly heavy series of “pumpkins” (stones) must be loaded over the bar at 48in.
  • 60sec time limit. Fastest time wins.
  • Equipment allowed: sleeves, belt, tape, leather forearm gauntlets. Not allowed: tacky, stick um, shirts with giant rubberish patches on the chest.

General Rules/Usual Mouser Stuff

  • In the event of a tie in the final standings, 1st place finishes will decide the winner. If there is still a tie, then 2nd place finishes will be the determinant, and so on. If a tie cannot be broken this way, athletes will compete head to head in Stone Shouldering for Reps (90sec) as the tie breaker.
  • Sportsmanship is expected and required. This is the greatest sport in the world, let’s keep it that way.
  • There will be a pre-event prayer. No one is expected to participate, so please do not feel obligated. All we ask is to be respectful of those that do or do not wish to participate.
  • This is a drug free contest. If you are juiced feel free to come cheer on your buddies but please do not bother to sign up.
  • Costumes are MANDATORY for competitors- make sure they do not restrict movement, have any pieces which could tear up equipment, or otherwise provide an unfair advantage- other than increased awesomeness for being the best costume in the competition!
  • If you have a question, please ask! I would rather take a minute to clarify something than to see someone have a poor showing due to a misunderstanding.
